In case you though wadawas was alone in these beliefs...here you go. An article by Dr. Ed Young.
A Spirituality that Kills Dr. Ed Young Winning Walk
Oprah's mantra "find your own spirit" has become the rally cry of many Americans. The media, our friends, family-and unfortunately, even some pulpits-challenge us to "find our inner strength."
These words might seem harmless to you, even encouraging and uplifting, but the truth is that these messages have their roots in the New Age Movement...a movement that is a very real danger to you and your family.
It starts by not being able to recognize Satan's deceptive strategy.
Perhaps you envision him wearing a red cape and carrying a pitchfork...someone who really doesn't affect your life. If so, he has you thinking exactly what he wants you to think! The devil is deceptive and charming-a wolf in sheep's clothing. And one of his greatest disguises is in the New Age Movement. Yet, many don't even realize it!
Do you recognize Satan's influence in your life? Are you drawn to television shows such as the WB's Charmed, which depicts the lives of three sisters who happen to be spell-casting witches? Or do your children watch Disney's That's So Raven in which the teen heroine has visions?
The popularity of the New Age Movement expressed in a cloak of spirituality is greater than ever...and it means you and I need to arm ourselves with God's truth. We need to be able to recognize false spirituality-and teach our children about these dangers.
For instance, what comes to mind when you think of New Age? Do you think of palm readers, crystal balls, journeys to Tibet to visit the Dalai Lama, Scientology? While all of these things are a part of New Age, this movement infiltrates our society in many other subtle and devious ways.
The New Age is expressed in simple meditation...or self-help seminars...even in holistic medicine. These things seem harmless, yet they possess dangerous spiritual pitfalls that can snare even the most innocent people.
What is the danger? New Age followers use all of these things as a means of channeling their inner energy and spirit to learn to rely on themselves, not on God.
For many people, the appeal of the New Age Movement is that there are no moral absolutes. What is right for me might not be right for you, but that's okay because we are really all the same-we all are gods.
This belief system also gives people a false feeling of control over their own lives. Since Adam, Eve, Cain, and Abel, man has struggled to gain control over himself and his world. The New Age Movement leads people to believe they have this control.
So how do we communicate God's truth in a society disillusioned by Satan's lies? The Christian's response must be threefold.
1. We must know what we believe about God and the tenets of our Christian faith.
2. We must communicate God's truth...the Gospel...with conviction, yet love. We must practice God's truth. God calls us to "walk the walk and talk the talk." "Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this...to keep oneself from being polluted by the world" (James 1:27).

Goodness gracious! I hope she's not alone in her beliefs! That article is to the point, straightforward and accurate in my humble opinion. Yes, my stomach turns when I hear people say, "spirituality is good" or "I consider myself to be a spiritual person." I would be much more encouraged to hear people say, "I love God, and I love others."
BTW, I particularly appreciate her entries about holiday origins. While I have not taken a stand to avoid Christmas, our family has never celebrated Easter the way most folks do. Originally, we went out of our way to say "Happy Resurrection Day". Lately we do find ourselves saying Happy Easter, but have never partaken in the egg or bunny thing. That being said, I notice I'm an egg. Probably better than that disprophobic rectum, or whatever it is. Eeeewwwww!

We had already begun feeling rather "weird" about most holidays long before I found wadawas. She was able to put into words what we were feeling in our family. My parents think I've really gone off the deep end with all of this. But I find the Spirit approving when we don't participate and tell people that every day is birth, death and resurrection of Christ, not just one or two days a year. Everyday we should show love to people, everyday we should be thankful!
And I don't celebrate a special "holy-day" for any human-type person. Such as a day off for a fore-father or big leader of some such group. I feel that is like setting up a shrine to a dead person. Strictly forbidden in the OT teachings.
blessings to you! healthybee
p.s. yes her member rankings are pretty silly!

What's the point of having your own forum if you can't make up fun rankings? Steve: disposophobic means to hoard, store, clutter... basically a pack rat. And in there lies the humor in that ranking
I meant to do a write up on the roots of Easter - have all my research done, i just didn't get around to making it into anything readable yet. Sorry about that. Basically, it's the same'ol same'ol: Old pagan holiday to worship the fertility goddess Oster or Aester. Carried over to Christianity by the Romans. I'll see if i have time to write it up tonight, ok?
Thanks for your support, btw. When i felt lead to research the roots of holidays & symbols, i was amazed at how many others have also chosen to stand firm against them. There is a very large number... we're just not so happily accepted & spoken of among the crowd who doesn’t want to give up things they like.

I know most all 'holidays' are pagan in origin, but I enjoy having a special day or season to honor the LORD's resurrection and His birth. I no longer do the commercial secular stuff like I did when I was a heathen, but I celebrate Resurrection Day and Christmas for what they mean to me and my family, the joy of His birth and the passion of the cross and His resurrection. I even bake Jesus a birthday cake! Despite their origins, the world still associates these days as Christian, that's why the secularists are fighting so hard to remove them.
For me, there is a balance in all things. I mean many cults don't celebrate anything, even birthdays or any holidays, which is so legalistic and extreme to me. Of course, I don't have anything to do with Halloween at all because it's totally demonic in it's origins AND now.
That's my take on it.
