Mineral Foundation Powder

I do make and use my own. You have to play with it quite a bit to get it where you want it. My cousin works for Mac Cosmetics. Is a regional trainer for that line and tells me that she can spot a Bare Escentuals lady right away. She says most don't blend the colors correctly. Or chose the wrong shades to begin with.

That is the problem I find in making it and selling on-line. I really like sitting down with someone and matching their skin tone.

Start with Kaolin clay - white. Add red and/or green facial clays to the tone you need. Always use with a light moisturizer!! You need the moisture to bond the powder to the skin.

I generally start with 20 Tablespoons of Kaolin in a container. Add about 1/3 the amount of red, in this case about 4 Tablespoons then about 1 teaspoon of green clay. Yes, you need the green to tone down the red.

Add more White to lighten, more green for olive complexion, more red for a redder tone. Red and green for darker/tanned tone. Red and white for more pink.

This will make a good tan as well when you use the red and green with a touch of white.

A cover up for blemishes is white with a pinch of green. Dab on the offending spot with your finger then dust with your base color.

You need one of those big round flat-tipped brushes to blend over the skin well.

If you get too much in one place wipe with a tissue and either leave or if you wipe too much add a bit more base.

After several days you will get the hang of it.

If you use too much moisturizer it will make the powder too oily and make it too red. I take a bit with me in a small container such a prescription bottle for touch ups.

Cleanse well at night and DO NOT USE around the tender eye areas!

Let me know if you have questions.

blessings,
HB
